Where Are Your Accusers…?

In the Gospel of Christ as written by The Apostle John, we read in the first 12 verses of an ad-hoc trial that the Scribes & Pharisees put on for Christ to trap Him.  What transpired is nothing short of amazing, better described as just simply Awesome.

My vantage point for this piece is thru the amazing Theological eyes of Matthew Henry, and his wonderful commentary on this passage.  From my perspective, a novice man’s opinion, Mr. Henry’s commentary is delightful and exhaustive enough to fill my appetite for academics on the subject, while stirring the Heart with Spiritual food of Christ’s Devine Power in the midst of acutely controlled Strength in the form of Meekness.  Oh to have been there to see and hear our Lord speak with Authority and Compassion in the same breath, wow…

We all know the story.  Scribes & Pharisees marched this woman in before Jesus.  Just as He had spoken to the woman at the well in Chapter 6 of John’s Gospel, here to, He knew as God incarnate that He indeed would see this woman brought to Him as an adulteress.  He knew her Heart.  He knew the accusers Hearts.  Yet He in the composure of The Master, He knelt down and drew in the dirt / sand.  We do not know what he was drawing or writing, but I admire Matthew Henry’s comment on this subject.  “Conscience is God’s deputy in the soul, and one word from him will set it on work, Heb. 4:12.”  I see this moment as a dramatic pause for these Scribes and Pharisees; they must have delighted in His silence as He knelt there.  Then He stood, to them, He stood there as a man they were about to trick or trap into saying something they could condemn Him with.  But after He stood – He spoke, as God’s Son He Spoke, the wisdom of the ages formed as The Word of the moment, timed and exercised perfectly.  “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first”.

Thump, went the first stone, thud went the next, then, as a bag of marbles spilled out unto the ground, they all dropped their stones.  For He alone, among all the men present that morning – He alone was without sin, He alone was blameless, He alone was pure and clean, The Very Word of God convicted their conscience.  They dropped their stones along with their ability to accuse this woman of anything in light of their own filthy sins.  Christ knew their Hearts.

His Moral Object Lesson was over – right?  No.  He carried on a brief conversation with her to show “us” the Heart of this dear woman; she was in need of a Savior, a Redeemer, and a Champion to rescue her from her own poor and sinful choices.  When she was placed in the presence of This Great Light of the Living Water of Christ, she recognized her sin and saw it as He saw – maybe for the very first time.

I see Christ looking at her with deep concern, deep compassion for the condition of her Heart, and as He looked upon her, He had already forgiven her in His Dynamic Economy of Time.  For in His Eternity, the Cross was already a finished work, thusly, her sins were forgiven.  Christ died for all sin, Past, Present and Future.  She had been forgiven.  She stood there alone, with The Master still stooped and drawing on the ground.  He knew they were all gone, yet He stood up, looking around as to indicate to her with His body motion / language, they are not here.  Then He spoke to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?”

Her answer was more than likely offered with a shaky and broken voice, “No One, LORD”…  Ah, acknowledgment of His Lordship, knowing in Her Heart she had just been saved, physically from these corrupt men, and Spiritually by her Lord…

Then the words spoken by our Dear & Precious Lord are the words that those of us that Truly understand the weight and depravity of our sin long to hear…  “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”  You are no longer condemned to a stoning, no longer condemned to death…  Now go on with your life and SIN  NO  MORE !!!   Folks, this is a call to Obedience of the Word of God in its authority and Sovereign Holy direction for our lives.

Grace – means there is nothing we can do, say or negotiate to win God’s favor, for Christ fulfilled God’s requirement for a death payment for sin.  If we take Christ’s Salvation – we must submit and yield to His Lordship.  1st Corinthians 6:18 thru 20 - 18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

We are no longer our own – He bought us with His own Life, thus His Word is ours to Obey…

America’s new culture is contradictive to any sort of accountability, thus it teaches our citizens of all walks that we are a group of individuals accountable to no one but ourselves.  “It’s all about Me, what I want, when I want it and where I want it – period”.  Satan’s schemes are all alike, nothing new under the sun.

Choose this this day whom you will serve…  Will you choose God, to which the Blessings are first to be joint aires with His Son in Eternity, and all the riches of Heaven are your reward.  Or…  Choose the ways of the world, believing there is no accountability for living this life apart from God’s Holiness, and in the end discovering you were serving your father the Devil.

The Gospel of Christ as written by The Apostle John
Chapter 8 Verses 2 thru 12

2 Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them.  3 Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, 4 they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act.  5 Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do you say?”  6 This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear.

7 So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.”  8 And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground.  9 Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.  10 When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?”

11 She said, “No one, Lord.”   And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

God IS...

If my head and heart are on right Spiritually, then at the depths of my Soul, I know beyond a doubt that I can not work to justify myself before God... I can not work for Salvation. I can not work for Redemption. I can not work to earn favor with God...

My Salvation, Redemption, Righteousness and Sanctification are all by the Choice of The Living God, Master Creator, Father of all There is. By His Choice / Election we are sealed unto Eternity to live and reign with Him Forever. NOT - by anything I can think, do or negotiate... Salvation / Redemption is solely and completely a manifestation of God's Sovereign Holy Will & Character Alone...

Simply stated Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone - period...

Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Choosing Sides...

To My Dear Children, Family & Friends - Read this...

This message is presented to those of you that claim Christ and declare they believe and follow Jesus...

If you read this, and the Holy Spirit does not clearly show you it's Spiritual meaning, contact me or your Pastor and talk about it... Talk about where you are Spiritually. Talk about where the world is in relevance to Biblical prophesy and our involvement as Followers of Christ. Then talk about Spiritual complacency and how to wake up...

Jesus said we "must" choose sides, for He came to divide. Time is short, the mission is simple, Love your neighbors, show Mercy, Forgive folks that offend you, shower them in Grace & Humility, Restore broken relationships, then Speak The Truth with Love and Devotion. Share the Good News, plant seed, God will do the rest. Choose the High Ground - there is No Middle Ground - only death for the unrepentant Heart... For Christ came to divide the world between Truth & Lie, and between Light & Darkness... Our actions, deeds, words, determine the content of a man or woman's Heart. You Can Not Love Jesus and embrace the world. You can Not follow Jesus and conform to the worlds counsel - they are incompatible.

This is The Gospel, The Word of GOD...  Read and let it minister to your Hearts...

Luke 12:49-53 “I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am till it is accomplished! Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division. For from now on five in one house will be divided: three against two, and two against three. Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”

2 Timothy 3:1-7 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

John 14:1-7 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.” Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”

Psalm 147:3-6 He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name. Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite. The Lord lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked down to the ground.

Romans 8:28-30 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

Psalm 55:22 Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

1 Peter 5:5-11 Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

John 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

1 John 1:8-10 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Allow your hearts to be humbled before the throne room of God, and ask Christ to minister this message to your hearts and preach His Word to you. Time grows short, you must choose your Master with all that you are, there is NO middle ground... There is NO middle ground, and you Must choose, regardless to what others have told you or teach.

Exodus 32:25-29 Now when Moses saw that the people were unrestrained for Aaron had not restrained them, to their shame among their enemies, then Moses stood in the entrance of the camp, and said, “Whoever is on the Lord’s side—come to me!” And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together to him. And he said to them, “Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘Let every man put his sword on his side, and go in and out from entrance to entrance throughout the camp, and let every man kill his brother, every man his companion, and every man his neighbor.” So the sons of Levi did according to the word of Moses. And about three thousand men of the people fell that day. Then Moses said, “Consecrate yourselves today to the Lord, that He may bestow on you a blessing this day, for every man has opposed his son and his brother.”

Hebrews 9:15, 27-28 And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. And as it is appointed for men to die once,  *but after this the judgment,* so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.

Joshua 24:15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell.

But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Will you stand with me for The Lord, the choice is freely yours, but I must March forward, with you by my side, or with you standing on your own and to the rears...

Regardless, I Love You, and I will continue to pray for you... However; I believe the Face Book interface will be left behind with the ways of the world. Relationships were meant to be in person, offering the right hand of fellowship... Not through a Spiritual and Emotional devoid electronic media...  It is good for keeping in touch - not conducive to real deep relationship - which is what Christ & Christianity is all about...

Good Day & God Bless...

Do You Want To "Know" The Truth...?

If we Love Jesus, as we do everything else in this country, there are many of us that will soon stand before a Holy & Righteous God, very, very surprised.  It IS ALL about The Relationship with Him.  The depth of The Relationship.  The exclusivity of The  Relationship.  The level of commitment in The Relationship.  The heart of loyalty in The Relationship.  The amount of dedication in The Relationship.

This culture / society is in a point in our history, when we can't even properly define our relationships with friends, family or our spouses...?  Why...?  We want to "take" God on our terms, we want to "make" Jesus "fit" into our lives...?

News Flash!!!  He  IS  GOD, Creator, Sovereign of all that IS, we are the created, we don't take or make HIM anything,  HE  IS  !!!   He Is...  We do not define The Relationship...  God Does Loved Ones, please, understand, that we as a Nation have made idols before a most Holy & Righteous God...  He Created Us, therefore; He defines the playing field, the rules and he owns the game ball.

You will never get Friendships right, never get Family right, and never get Marriage right until you understand and have a Real Relationship with the Author of all Relationship, The Lord and King Jesus Christ and His Blessed Abba Father - God and Creator of all universes.

If we Love The Lord Jesus our Christ, then we will submit and yield to that Lordship, allowing Him to Define The Relationship...  Otherwise; you had best study Matthew 7, and become familiar with verses 13, 14, 21, 22 & 23...  HE and HE alone defines how and who HE knows, in the Word He provided to us to introduce us to Him.  Apart from His Word and His Spirit - there is NO Relationship...

Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Trust Me - I didn't get this right, I didn't understand...  I was a religious man, I wasn't a "servant to The King", I had a one way relationship with Christ, my way, which I have since learned is in No Way a Saving Relationship...  Pastor's wake up, accountability for your flock before the Bema Seat is real...  Tell them The Truth, teach them The Truth, and call Sin just that - it is Sin...   Not mistakes...  Not bad Choices...  Not wrong Turns...

Folks - You willfully break the commandments of God and our Dear Lord Jesus, it is Sin and pride that defines your life, which Christ has no part in.  His Grace is not a license to follow the worlds ways...  He came to divide, to separate the world of Sin from the World of Righteousness, if you have a relationship with Jesus Christ, a True, Real, Deep, Loving & Serving Relationship with Him, YOU, already know this to be TRUE...

If you have a relationship with Jesus, then you already understand the mission...  Speak, preach and teach the gospel to all that will hear, upon their accepting, repenting and turning from their sin, get them Baptized and then Disciple them so that they can repeat the process...

Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

Take a long look...

Take A Long Hard Look...
By rch originally 03/2014;   edited for repost 07/2018

I have personally known quite a few of these men, several very well, but all in one way or another left an indelible mark on my life...  Recently, an event in my life made me better understand these men, and God has somehow, made me stand back a take a longer look at them.  Please, indulge me these few minutes while I share briefly - then take the time to look for yourself.

When I was just a little guy, 3 or 4 years of age, I was surrounded with Godly people, my Dad's Father, was instrumental in starting the First Baptist Church in Bellefonte.  A Minister himself, he had a powerful presence in our home, and those in his circles.  His demeanor, his social grace, his unmistakable endearing words for God, Son and Holy Spirit were drenched in respect, honor and reverence.  My Mother's Father, was a towering man, he was rugged and strong, yet in the most humble meek way, he had an internal gentleness and Love for his Savior that was ever present in the room.  These men were giants in my world, they walked uprightly, they modeled Godly, Righteous and Holy lives.  I race to keep stride with them in their absence, we indeed need more men like this today...

An older gentleman I met from Altoona, was yet another Godly man that left his mark on me.  When you were in his presence, you knew and felt the very presence of God's Spirit.  He studied Hebrew on his own, he knew his bible inside out, a wonderful endearing man, I loved him so.  He was such a delight to sit down with and just talk bible and of Spiritual things.  He kept my attention and interest even for a young man, he drew me in.

My Father-in-Law Pastor James Hays, had such a Heart for God as well, when we had Spiritual or Theological discussions - as the Spirit filled his Heart, he over flowed to tears.  He had such a wonderful deep seated Love for Christ, he LOVED to talk and sing about HIM...   I truly enjoyed our talks, and thoroughly enjoyed his perspective and encouraging stories.  He would show such wonderful grace and reverence when sharing his testimony, and how he saw God work in his Church and the lives of the people that attended.  He went to be with His Lord & King May of 2018, but I will always remember his zeal and love for Christ and his still showing that Pastor's Heart to his last day.

These four  men had / have a common spirit that I now understand and see in other men of this Spiritual make up, but there are fewer and fewer to find today.  They had / have an inner peace, an inner confidence and an inner competence of God's Person, an indwelling of the Holy Spirit that was literally acknowledged by your human / Spiritual senses.  It drew you to them, it warmed your soul, it lightened your heart, it was simply remarkable and fulfilling beyond words.

In this life time, I have known and or sat under the teaching of George Keith, Leroy Fetterolf, Marvin Apple, Alvin Mink, Richard Diffenderfer, Steven Burns, Edgar Burns, Ron Berrus, Paul Sweitzer, Roy Hunter, Larry Weaver, Lou Hielman, Alan Kilian, Alistair Begg, Greg Shipe, James Hays, Shane Wilson and Tim Farkas.  All good, honorable and respectable men in their own right.  Yet they have something bigger that binds them, more than the common grace among men, unfortunately they are part of an ever shrinking circle of men.  These men, all stand / stood for God, standing tall, strong, boldly, firm and without reservation.  They claim His Power, Sovereignty, and live the Faith they claim, teach and preach.  These men are God Fearing, Bible Believing, Christ Loving men that share the burdens of their Hearts with you and I several times a week.

Of these 18 men mentioned, I know / knew several of them as close friends, one of them was as close to me as my Dad and closer than my Brothers.  Their walk was every bit the Word they taught, and more, there is / was a gentle Spirit and Love in these men, that it compelled me to seek God's face for myself.  These men have shown a caring that went beyond human dignity, a genuineness that can only be seen in the eyes of few men in this world today.  These men, stand on the shoulders of men like my Grand Fathers Hall & Tormey and those pastors that have gone on before them.  In a very, very real way, these men give / gave their lives to Christ pouring their Hearts into the Ministry - Loving People while enduring Spiritual, Mental, Physical and Emotional suffering in leading obstinate selfish people like me towards the finish line.  Drawing the Body of Christ together in union with His Holy Spirit.

These men, stand / stood before their congregations every week, pouring their Hearts into a message that in it's very essence is simple - so very simple - "Look, Understand, Confess, Repent, Believe and Walk"...  Yet we make it so stubbornly hard, because we can't get out of our own way, to allow His Message to fall on our Hearts.  Oh how these poor men must have labored and shed tens of thousands of tears over us.  Yes Friend - Take a long hard look at your Dear Pastor, look into his eyes and see the deep Joy of Christ along with the burden of Ministry.  He needs your support, He needs your Love, He needs your Prayers, He deserves your Respect, and dear friend He craves your Devotion and Submission to Christ and HIS Work in your local Church Body.

As a personal note, one of those 18 men lead me to Christ.  One of those 18 men tutored me in Youth Group.  One of those 18 men became my Spiritual Mentor and life-long Dear, Dear Friend.  One of those 18 men became my friend and I promised Loyalty to him and then failed him in a major Spiritual battle.  Finally, one of those 18 men, God used, to rescue my "walk" in the midst of that deep Spiritual battle, he too became my friend modeling Christ's Love & Patience to me, which is a fascinating story in itself.  Most of those 18 men were 10 or more years older than me.  In my life, I had developed a deep respect and honor for the older Saints and Pastor's.  A good friend of mine, that is an Elder in a Church in Altoona, teases me about that filter I use when looking at God's men.  Yet, God used a Pastor, younger than I, to walk me thru the deepest darkest valley of my life.  On this side of God's Miraculous Work in "brokenness", when I take a good, hard, long look at this younger Godly Pastor - tears well up, and I tell Jesus, I want to be like him when I Spiritually grow up Dear Lord.  For his counsel and compassion show wisdom beyond his years.  Yes, I have been fortunate to know several wonderful Godly, Righteous Pastors in this life time.  Oh what a Blessing they are.

Grand Dad Hall, was a old time Methodist Preacher before I was born - he and a couple other men started the First Baptist Church in Bellefonte.  He Loved and cared for his Pastor's, and sacrificed for some of them even though they didn't know it.  My Grand Fathers both, looked after their Pastor's, so I guess the Love and Caring in my Heart for God's Preacher's comes honestly.  Several of the men mentioned I have grown to Love deeply, all of them have my respect for the position they hold as Christ's Under Shepherd's, and a passion for the Burden of Ministry that they Loving take in stride.

These men - oh, these men, they ALL point / pointed to Christ - never taking or wanting recognition, they Love their Lord, and constantly and continuously direct your attention, your gaze and your Hearts towards Christ.  When a Pastor is doing it RIGHT, you will always see Jesus in the man and in the eyes of that man.  They Love Us in Christ, and want us to be One with Him, and hear His voice in their messages.  So dear friends, Love them in our Lord, and bathe them in Prayer before the Father.  Help them where you can, and plug into the ministry of your Church, use the gifts God gave you upon your receiving Christ.

Yes, these men carry the Torch for Christ, Honoring God the Father in their lives, in their testimonies and in their Ministries.  PLEASE - Take a Long Hard Look at your Pastor - then, lovingly and willingly  roll up your shirt sleeves, offer him a smile and ask him "where can I help you Brother"?......

I Pray that those that have sat under these men I have listed here have been as Richly Blessed as I have been.

His Joy Brings Happiness Thru Obedience...

A Little Teaching - Preaching Moment & quote from Charles Spurgeon...

Today's Feel Good / Prosperity Gospel has left an indelible mark in the hearts of some of today's congregations.  That dark mark is one of God's Grace equating Moral License free from Conviction of Sin or thought of Hell.  Today's Gospel Zero's in on God's Great Love, negating the Doctrinal Truth in the rest of God's Character Attributes...  This gospel grabs onto His Deep Love, Endless Mercy and Amazing Grace - but fails to speak of His Holiness, Righteousness and His firm Hand of Justice.  The Bible I read teaches that if I have a true relationship with God and His Dear Son, there are certain "attitudes" that His Spirit in my Heart will manifest.  It also teaches that as I grow in His Spirit there would be certain "fruit" of His Spirit that dwells in me that would be shown in my Heart, Speech, Deeds and acts of the will.

The True Gospel leads to conformity to Christ / God's Likeness.  Isn't it obvious, that if the rebellious flesh desperately fights that conformity, and if we do not yield and submit to that Holy Spirit, that the flesh will win out.  In essence, making ourselves god, because we want to feel good, and enjoy all this world has to offer, so we in essence yield to our own wants and desires.  When we yield to our own heart & will we keep our own idols and effectively are replacing God & His Will with our own...

Where in "Take up your cross and follow me", do we incorporate, it is all about being happy at all cost?  The very picture of a cross should bring a word picture to mind of suffering, pain and humble submission.  There is no room for the worlds happiness and emotional feel good gospel while carrying your cross following in the Light of Jesus.

True Gospel - Will Lead To The True Christ.  The Spirit Dwelt Christian Will Follow In Obedience...  Seeking His Light, His Holiness and His Righteousness, which I assure you is not native to this world or anything it offers to make you happy.

Romans 1:1-6 Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh, who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the   "obedience" of faith among all the Gentiles for His name’s sake, among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;

From the pen of Charles Spurgeon:

Just a moment or two upon the third point. Let us consider THE SORT OF LIFE WHICH WILL COME OF THIS FAITH AND OBEDIENCE.

It will be, in the first place, life without that great risk which else holds us in peril. A man runs a great risk When he steers himself. Rocks or no rocks, the peril lies in the helmsman. The believer is no longer the helmsman of his own vessel; he has taken a pilot on board. To believe in God, and to do his bidding, is a great escape from the hazards of personal weakness and folly. If we do as God commands, and do not seem to succeed, it is no fault of ours. Failure itself would be success as long as we did not fail to obey. If we passed through life unrecognised, or were only acknowledged by a sneer from the worldly-wise, and if this were regarded as a failure, it could be borne with equanimity as long as we knew that we had kept our faith towards God, and our obedience to him. Providence is God's business, obedience is ours. What comes out of our life's course must remain with the Lord; to obey is our sole concern. What harvest will come of our sowing we must leave with the Lord of the harvest; but we ourselves must look to the basket and the seed, and scatter our handfuls in the furrows without fail. We can win "Well done, good and faithful servant": to be a successful servant is not in our power, and we shall not be held responsible for it. Our greatest risk is over when we obey. God makes faith and obedience the way of safety.

Dear Abba God in Heaven, forgive me, a pitiful sinner, not worthy on my own, but in the redemptive power of Christ's Blood, I stand justified in His Work.  Please help me in my unbelief, give me the Faith & Trust I need to "obediently" follow and conform my heart to Yours.  In Jesus I pray and yield my heart to You - Amen.

The Son of The Living God...

Son of the Living God...

Matthew 22:37-38 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment.

I think the Bible pretty much lays it out from Genesis to Revelations that this entire reality we call life "is all about Him", not us, not our spouse, not our children, family or friends.  "It is all about HIM !"

If we understand the Vertical Relationship with God, and the Love, Mercy, Forgiveness and Grace that He imparts upon us thru His Blessed Son - those other relationships will fall into place and become all the more precious to us.

We show Him our love thru our everyday actions, works and deeds.  The Music you listen to, the Movies you watch, the Conversations you participate, the Foundation for the Opinions and beliefs you hold are all to be filtered thru The Holy Spirit...  We make hundreds of choices every day, what influences those choices in your heart & mind - Christ's Spirit in you, or your own will, emotions and desires?

Look at the picture I posted of our Blessed Sheppard, while this is only an artist's rendering of His image, just the same, it is good for this illustration.  Do you think of Him in your daily life in all the little things as well as the big things?  Do you have a personal image or thought of Him when you start your day, each and every day?  What truly influences your daily choices (left or right, up or down, right or wrong)?

Would your Country, Rock, Rap, or whatever your genre you want to insert here, would He listen, really can you imagine He would listen to it with you and enjoy it with you?  Would He set thru that movie with you?  Would He blush or turn away in that conversation you had today with your friends?  Where does does Worship & Honoring Him Start in your life? What parts of your life are off limits to Him?

This isn't legalism folks, this searching your heart for Holiness and Righteousness...  I was raised in an extended Family of Christians that still believed in calling sin - just that - Sin.  Today, the culture has infected our congregations to the point that in many cases - the Church looks much like the world.  Sin is not discussed, nor is Hell mentioned as the final judgment for Sin...

Sanctification - is the "setting ourselves apart" from the ways of the world.  We can't be the salt of the world when our seasoning offers no flavor / difference - therefore; offering no moral compass or flavor to the world...

Legalism, is mentally and practically believing that our works and living by our standards will satisfy God's judgement, that we will earn His favor thru how we love our lives.n this is error, and will lead to the gates of Hell.  The person calling themselves a Christian living by these self imposed Standards rather than yielding to the Son of the Living God, needs to meet Him and place all Trust, Faith and Belief on Christ - John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

When in reality, Christ's work paid it all, and our behavior, actions and deeds should be a result of the Holy Spirit changing us from the inside out.  Creating in us, Godly  hearts and unconditional love, in reality - converting us into little Christ Like beings...  Yielding and Submitting to His Spirit, yes, conforming to His Holy and Righteous Spirit.  Our Fruit / works will then bear the testament and contents of our heart...

The Son of the Living God - will change your heart, from the inside out - a lasting change...  Anything else is just deception, and as a wise preacher man once told me, "once you have deceived yourself to believe you're alright on your own, and see no moral difference from the world, you are beyond hope".  For you have believed the lie and in essence become the reprobate that scripture tells us that God has given over to their own hearts desires...

Galatians 5:22-25 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

So dear friend, Honor the Son of the Living God, and walk in His Spirit today!  If you see a brother stumbling, don't be politically correct, walk over and put your arm around them and say "hey friend, how can I help"?  Love that brother, forgive the Sin, and help carry the load restoring them back to full fellowship.

In Christ's Love,

RC

His Singular Gift - For ALL of Humanity...

*(A repost from one of my earlier posts a few years back)*

I had several different messages I thought of bringing to you wonderful folks, yet this is the one He has laid on my heart as a Christmas Gift & Message. Please, forgive this layman's attempt at transcribing such a precious message.

By one man, Adam, our complete fellowship with our Heavenly Father was disrupted. A veil between HIS Holiness and our Humanness was introduced through Adam’s choice to go his own way. God’s desire was to receive the unconditional Praise, Worship and Love of HIS creation. It was God’s design for us to walk with HIM in the cool of the evening, to commune as one family. His Love For Us – established before the very foundation of the earth.

Adam chose to defy our Precious Father – hence convicting every single generation of his offspring to pain, suffering and death. Both spiritually and physically – death was the ultimate penalty for this transgression. There were several major transactions that took place that day in the Garden, not the least of which was curse of sin. Adam’s race through one simple act of eating of the forbidden fruit was condemned to slavery. Every child of the human race since that day has been born a sinner, born into the bonds of sin slavery, the direct results of a choice to have our will and not God’s.

To fully understand the significance of a baby born in Bethlehem 2000+ years ago, you must fully understand the Theology of Creation, and the doctrine of sin. If you don’t understand or believe these things, then this celebrated day of remembrance has no meaning or value to you. The post modern culture that we find ourselves immersed in, simply replaces the True meaning, with symbolism and materialism to fill that emptiness.

Truth be told, those things never truly fill the void of not having God present in a man’s heart. Satan has sold the lie to the world quite well, and he is smiling and rolling on the floor laughing in cynical joy for the souls he has destroyed. For the Truth of Christmas is that of a miracle, that a young Jewish girl named Mary was touched by the Holy Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit planted the seed of Truth & Life in this woman that the Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God could come into this fallen world. That a Single Child, one lone being (God incarnate) came into this world on a dark cold night with one purpose – and one purpose only. He came to save the human race from the curse of sin bondage.

HE was born of a virgin, walked this earth for 33 years, ministering to common man, the down trodden, the oppressed, the poor, the sick, the needy and the dying. Jesus came to us and corrected our view of the Law by showing us the Heart of God, and announced to the world that He was here to fulfill the law and prophesy of old. He commanded us to LOVE one another, as He loved His Church, to the point of spreading HIS arms wide open, and dying for those that literally nailed HIM to the cross.

A SINGLE GIFT OF SACRIFICE – He offered up Himself from his first breath in that manger in Bethlehem, to the last breath He took as He laid down His life on that Cross 33 years later. HE came to this earth with one purpose; to bruise the head of that old serpent with the heel of His foot, saving humanity from the bonds of sin.

That Christmas gift of long ago tore the veil that separated us from the Heavenly Father giving us un-tethered access to God. For through accepting His gift (once again a choice we must make), dying to ourselves, and yielding to Him we can once again stand before GOD – wrapped in the Love and Righteousness of HIS Son – Jesus Christ, the TRUTH in Christmas! Please, please let me introduce you to this Wonderful man that has called me friend! For yet a little time, HE holds the door of Grace open for those to walk through that heed the call. Don’t spend another Christmas without HIM, don’t be left to a dark empty eternity. Choose Christ, and have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!

From the Manger to the Cross – Remember His Love, Obedience, Sacrifice and GIFT this Christmas!

Your Friend,

Mercy, Forgiveness, Grace & God's Gift...

Psalm 51:1;  1Have mercy on me, O God, because of your loyal love! Because of your great compassion, wipe away my rebellious acts!   2Wash away my wrongdoing!   (from the pen of David & the heart of God)

( * )He showed us Mercy by sparing us in the Garden, and then providing a way out of darkness...

Colossians 1:13 & 14; 13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood,[c] the forgiveness of sins.   (from the pen of Paul & the heart of God)

( * )That way out of darkness, the simple fact that the Father God, sent forth His only begotten Son Jesus, to provide a Light in the midst of the darkness, and pave the way for total, complete and eternal Forgiveness...

Romans 6:12 - 14; 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.   (from the pen of Paul & the heart of God)

( * )Christ sealed the fate of all believers on His work on the Cross, ending the age of the Law and ushering us into that wonderful age we live in now - the age of Grace, where God's Grace is shed upon all men.  While His spirit only resides in the heart of Men & Women He has called to Himself, His Wonderful, Miraculous, Compassionate Grace is blessed to all men of this age.

Romans 6:20 - 23;  20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.   (from the pen of Paul & the heart of God)

( * )While God's Glorious Grace is common to all men as it pertains to keeping the world in check, with God's hand balancing the evil one's influence in this world, that is all about to change!  The wages of sin is death!  God's Gift of eternal life, paid for thru His Precious Son's Blood on Calvary, is only offered during the age of Grace.  For those that turn their back on Christ during the age of Grace, will experience Him turning His back on them at the Great Judgment.  He is coming, very soon, those that are called to Him need to be found busy in His work.  Those that do not know this Jesus, or have a relationship with Him, need to seek Him out - or face eternal damnation and destruction in the very real place called Hell.

For since the Garden of Eden, and Adam's choice to do his will, instead of the will and desire of God, all men have had the curse to die at least one death, that of the physical body.  BUT, through Christ, we need not face the second death of the Spirit.  For in Christ's work, bloodshed, death, burial and resurrection, He, Christ has paid the price to ransom our Spirit, and reserve to Himself as His eternal bride.

We, those that know Him as Savior and Lord, have submitted our hearts to Him willingly, and "enjoy" the relationship of His Lordship and Kinship.  If you too would like to know this man called Jesus, in a Spiritual relationship that makes all others pale, contact me, I will introduce Him to you...

MY - Shepherd...

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall NOT want....

The Lord, the Creator, the One and Only Sovereign God, the Owner and Keeper of all that was, that is and that will ever be...  This omnipotent supreme creator poured His self into the creation of the world, and all of its inhabitants, not the least of which was His prize creation, man, and from the man's rib, woman...

He created these beings to walk with Him, to converse with Him and to commune with Him in everlasting peace and beauty.  But; due to the influence of the evil one, man chose to sin with His eyes wide open, and choose his own way over that of Almighty God.  Condemning the entire human race to physical and spiritual death.

However; He had a plan, through the annals of time to provide complete redemption for man, through the sacrifice of His very own Son.  Today dear folks I am here to tell you - that Savior is My Lord...

The Lord is MY Shepherd, I have chosen HIM, to learn to die to myself and allow His Lordship and Leading to be the only influence that I listen to - forsaking all others before Him.  That through that submission and yielding HE will make me a better Son, a better Brother, a better Husband, a better Father, a better Grand-Father, a better Friend and a better servant to Christ as well as those around me.  He is My Shepherd, to His Voice I will harken, I will keep my eyes on Him, for in my flesh I know if I take my eyes off my Shepherd, I will truly lose my way.

The Lord is MY Shepherd; I shall NOT want...         Oh Dear Father in Heaven, hear my voice, hear my cries for strength, for my Heart Longs for Jesus, yet my flesh is so weak.  Please give me strength to continue forward, one second at a time, one heart beat at a time, one step at a time.  Don't let me look back for a second, purge from my heart the desires of this world, let me thirst for that Living Water every second of my life...  Help me remember that You and You alone will meet my needs, and when my heart is yielded to you, you will meet my wants as they align with your will.  In that knowledge, in that walk, I Truly Shall NOT Want for anything but more time with You and Your Mercy, Grace and Blessing.

Yes LORD, You are My Shepherd, to whom I have learned to love in the depth and core of my Heart and Mind...  You alone know the depth of my pain and emptiness, and have filled me to overflowing with the Water that Eternally quenches the thirst of a man's heart.  As you sanctify this heart and life, Lord let me speak your precious name to everyone you place on my path that is seeking a Shepherd of Peace.  Keep me on the path of righteousness in spite of the arrows and stones I endure, and I will praise you all the days of my life.  Glory to Your Mighty Name - Jesus the Christ & Lord...

Peace, Be Still…

One of my favorite Christian Male Vocalist is Mr. Allan Hall.  On his album “House of a Thousand Dreams”, he recorded a piece titled “Nearer My God To Thee / Peace Be Still”.  I have played this work quite a bit lately, for through the valleys we crave that closeness with our Heavenly Father.  This song, exemplifies the heartfelt desire to be closer / nearer to God when walking those valley floors.

Here are the words to that beautiful piece by Allan Hall…

Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!
Even though it be the cross that raiseth me,
Still all my song shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee.

Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee!

Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down,
Darkness be over me, my rest a stone.
Yet in my dreams I'd be, nearer, my God, to Thee.

Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee!

He says peace, peace be still
Lifts His hands, peace be still

And like a child the winds obey Him
When He says peace be still

He says peace, peace be still
Lifts His hands, peace be still

And like a child my heart obeys Him
When He says peace be still
Hear His voice peace be still

We as Christians, still physically bound to the sinful flesh, sometimes yield that closeness to our Heavenly Father for our own will, desires, and judgments.  We allow circumstances to weaken our faith, and decide to take things into our own hands.  We get tired of waiting on God, and conjure our own solutions to life’s problems.

As many great Biblical men of our past have learned, God’s time is not necessarily our desired time frame.  But just as Moses, Joshua, Abraham and Sarah learned, God answers prayer, in His time and for His purpose.  We are to continue our prayer, earnestly, with conviction and heart, He hears the prayers of righteous men and women with no un-confessed sin in their hearts.  He hears those prayers and answers them in His Good Time and Will.

While praying and waiting, we must pray to be nearer, closer, and humbled in His presence, so that we will hear His voice in the quiet of His rest.  If we become impatient and rush to our own conclusions and answers to the problem, we will get the result of that hasty decision.  Which in most cases, causes great pain, not just to ourselves but to those we love and care for around us.

To hear His voice in our lives and heart – we must be peaceful – quiet, we must be still, recognizing both His sovereignty in our Lives, as well as His Authority in this world…  Nothing passes through the annals of time without passing through His Hand.  All things, regardless of their appearance to us at the time, are to work for good, and His Glory.

We must learn to draw close to Him in the bad times as well as the good times…  Yes, when everything is going well, our faith must continue and build, so that when we enter the Valleys, we are already praying and reaching for His hand.  Trust, comes with open eyes to look back over our lives to see His hand consistently working in our lives.  Faith, is believing in that which you don’t necessarily see, while we don’t see Him physically, we can and do see the results of His work in our lives.  Thank Him, for everything, even the little things that you may feel insignificant…  It is in that heart of Thanks that you see His Face, His Love and His Work in your life, in the little things as well as the big ones.

Dear Father, draw me nearer to Thee…  Help Me Dear Jesus, to cling to Your Peace, and be Still – forever waiting on Thee!

The Spirit of Christmas...

The Spirit of Christmas...

21 December 2011

RCH

It is the 21st of December, the shortest day and the longest night of the year.  While we are in the year 2011, I believe that some folks still have the seasonal excitement that leads up to the 25th of December.  However; this old salt Marine believes the American culture has long forgot the true "reason for the season"...  We have historical revisionist working overtime to remove every thread of our Spiritual heritage, while scratching their heads wondering why society is tearing at the seams.

I for one, am solemnly praying that God touch my heart and prick my spirit to keep the meaning of Christmas in my heart.  I pray that in this little message, He will give me the ability to articulate the True Spirit of Christmas, in a way that will challenge men and women's hearts to look farther, and love deeper than ever before.  I pray that all those that read this, would learn the lesson that God provided me through a study a while back that illuminated the Christmas Story unlike ever before.

You see, the Spirit of Christmas isn't a theory, a concept or a thing that can be explained, or worse yet, explained away.  The Spirit of Christmas was and is "a Spirit"! That's right, a Spirit, so why don't you relax and settle in and we will uncover this gem from a layman's perspective.

We read the Christmas story in Matthew and Luke, a story some 2000+ years ago, of an young teenage woman.  Her name was Mary, a young Jewish woman that through a Family arrangement for marriage, was betrothed to a gentleman named Joseph.  Mary's linage went all the way back to the Great King David, which in the validation of this story is both very important and significant.  Why, because that fact would both fulfill prophesy, and secure her baby's place as King of the World.

Mary, had a cousin named Elizabeth, and she was pregnant with another baby that would have significance in the Christian faith later down the road.  When Elizabeth was 6 months pregnant with her son John, the Archangel Gabriel visited Mary to give her news that would change her life and rock the world.  This young teenage woman, loved God, she was richly acquainted with the old testament scriptures, Mary was a Godly righteous young woman that found favor in God's eyes.  However; she was human, she was a part of the seed of Adam, as well as the linage of David.  Which would have posed a problem, in that whole original sin discussion.  BUT, God already had a plan to dismiss any claim of a sinful nature...  Hmm, much to see, much to learn...

Gabriel announced to Mary that she would bare a Son, and He would be The Savior to the world.  Now put yourself in this situation, think about the event itself, an Angelic being just manifested itself before your eyes.  Is it a dream?  Is it a mental breakdown?  Is it a thing to be easily dismissed and forgotten?  No...  There was to be an unborn Child that would manifest Himself in this woman's womb!  there would be physical, hormonal and emotional changes immediately in her life.  For any normal teenage woman, this would have undoubtedly shook them to the root of their soul, yet Mary seemed to take it in stride.  Her Love for and Faith in God, was undoubtedly her anchor.

There were several events that helped steady the reality of God's miracle in this story.  Mary visited Elizabeth's house, and there was great joy and moving of the Holy Spirit amongst them.  This had to be both comforting for Mary, and a real confidence builder for her to travel back to Nazareth.  There was also Zechariah's visit from Gabriel to announce the Christ child, too many events validated and collaborated by other folks of the time.  Mary knew to her core this was both true and real, there was no need or room for doubt, she had an important role to fill in this story as it unfolded.

But; what about that sin nature question...  How did God prevent Mary's blood line from tarnishing or traversing to the unborn child?  Well, we need to think this through.  First of all in Luke chapter one, we see an important question from Mary to Gabriel, and his uniquely awesome answer.  Luke 1:34 & 35;  Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?  And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee; therefore also that Holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God...  THE Son of God.  Two things we take from this.

One, God through His Supernatural Power chose to; and took action to stop the human nature from entering the Child.  Hence Catholicism teaches the "immaculate conception", in layman's terms from a Protestant's perspective, God supernaturally prevented the original sin from being any part of the equation...  In addition, the second important point is that Christ was already a person, simply put, He already totally and completely existed.  He was God's only begotten Son, He was already part of the creation process.  Therefore; there was no need for an additional father of human flesh.  Thusly, we have the supernatural conception, or I would prefer, the incarnation of Christ in a human form through Mary of Nazareth.

It is because of this God orchestrated miracle that the Savior would come to us as God and man.  By the seed of Adam all men were cursed and condemned, and by the seed of God, all men have been offered redemption.  Which brings me back to the Spirit of Christmas.  In John 4:23 & 24 we read that:  But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

The Spirit of Christmas was God Himself!!!  Through this young woman, God sent His Only Begotten Son, to come to this earth in obedience, ultimately to go to Calvary and lay His life down for mankind.  The lesson I learned through my study months ago, was that God set the example, He lead His followers by example.  He in all His Wisdom and Might, gave up the best that He had that first Christmas night.  God showed us the model of sacrifice from Mary's Holy conception, to Christ's first breath in that stable, to His last breath on the Cross of Calvary.

Christmas isn't only about the gift of Christ, it is about Their (Father & Son) sacrifice for us.  You are scratching your head, saying where is this guy going...  Stop and think about it folks, especially those of you with children.  What in this world, would you be willing to give up the child you have always known, to send on a mission that you know would take him or her away from you.  Not only will this mission take them from your presence physically, but it will force the ugliest vile contentious manifestations the mind could imagine and beyond upon them.  You will both endure unbelievable, unimaginable pain mentally, emotionally and physically.  Could you do it?  God Did!!!

God the Father endured physical separation from His Son, while Christ walked this earth as a man.  While He was well pleased with His Son and His obedience, on that last day on earth in human form, God had to turn His back on His Son in wrath and disgust...  For Christ took on the SIN of the ENTIRE WORLD, to which the Father had to turn away, at that point all those pains were married together as the weight of the world was bore by this Perfect Lambs body and soul.  At that moment, Christ endured Mental, Emotional, Physical and Spiritual pain, to pay for my wretched sin.  God showed Mercy to man, He provided the Grace needed to find our way back to that cross and cover our sin in Christ's shed blood.  Through that transaction, God wraps us in His Son's Righteousness, and we become justified in His site through the Perfect Lamb's Blood Covering.

The Spirit of Christmas is that of Almighty God Himself and His dear and precious Son, Jesus Christ.  Interpreted by this layman, the spirit of Christmas is that of Sacrifice first, the gift second.  We must learn to love our fellow man through sacrifice, which God the Father and Christ the Son taught us by example.  That sacrifice is the price of the gift we offer to those we come in contact with each and every day, family, friends, coworkers, acquaintances and yes, if God leads you - strangers too.  We that worship in spirit, must be a witness of that Spirit that lives and dwells in us.  The Spirit of Christmas is CHRIST, we must place the Love and Spirit of Christ back into our Christmas...

Seek to Worship the Living God, through His all so Precious Son in Spirit and speak the Christ of Christmas this year...  For the day of reckoning is drawing nigh...  Be well, live and show the peace of Christ this Christmas, God Bless each and every one of you.                   Merry Christmas!
